Mindfulness Challenge Day 9 Haiku -- Snow Globe

Finding a way to be mindful in 17 syllables is easier on some days than others. Today the haiku wrote itself while I sipped my coffee and looked out my kitchen window.

Snow Globe

Snow falling gently
Powdered sugar coats the leaves
A living snow globe

Mindfulness Challenge Day 8 Haiku -- Yin and Yang

As the thermometer hovers between negative and positive numbers today, we in the northern parts of the United States bundle ourselves as best we can against the bitter cold, as we try and go about our daily business. The yin and yang of temperature -- must we experience bitter cold to appreciate warmth?

Yin and Yang

Icy, biting cold
Bright sunshine belies the temp
So grateful for warmth

Mindfulness Challenge Day 6 Haiku -- Calm

Day 6 of the Mindfulness Challenge leads me to notice with gratitude the permission to simply be within the busyness of doing....a photo of my Calm mug on my desk laden with work to be "done".

Drinking in calmness
Savoring the chance to pause
Being not doing

Hello Springtime

Isn't it interesting how trees covered in white evoke thoughts and emotion? Heavy with snow or laden with blossoms, one suggests the introspection of winter and the other the opening of possibility of spring. Enjoy the difference.
